Message to ParentsHello Parents,
I just want to thank you for all your support this year. I knew, that first day of school, when I was teaching with a broken arm, that you were a great group of supportive parents. I really appreciate your help in making sure the students had their homework done. Thanks for all the supportive help on field trips and AR parties and goals. It was wonderful to have the students bring in their science projects and displays. Each child, who had a prensentation, did a superb job in explaining their experiment reasoning, and results. Thank you, also, for coming to our programs. The children worked so hard to prepare, especially for their parents and family. Childhood is so short They are so earnest and funny in second grade. Wasn't the class especially talented performers? Life is very sweet when watching your dear child perform just for you. Each of these children are so precious and gifted in many ways. This is a class of workers! The children were able to raise their level of scores to an amazing level of improvement. They really wanted to learn and understand. Look for the results of their national assessment, the MAPS test, which tests Reading, Math, Language, and Science The results show your child's progress through the year and also how your child compares with the norm of the nation. Summer is a time of much play and fun. Reading, writing, and math can be part of that fun. Children really do love to learn if the parent-teacher is positive and excited about what the child has accomplished. Five minutes of showing interest and excitement will usually help the child be motivated to keep learning for another 10 or 15 minutes... especially if you take a few minutes to note what the child has accomplished the last minute or two. I have tried to make this easier for the children by providing the classroom website olsenstars.weebly.com. I promised the students I would answer if they write on the Children's Blog on the class website. Writing in their red journals will make them even more precious, and it is a wonderful way for children to relive precious family times. I was your child's teacher for just nine months. Parents are the Always-and-Forever Teacher. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's progress for second grade. May you all have a wonderful summer. Sandra Olsen |
